Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital to conduct a national search for their next Director, Surgical Services.

Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leader will oversee all aspects of perioperative services, including the Operating Room, Pre-Op, PACU, Central Sterile Processing, Outpatient Surgery, GI, and Procedural Services. Direct reports: two Managers.  This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing community hospital that is part of the nationally recognized Vanderbilt Health system and to help shape the future of surgical services in a highly collaborative environment.

Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital is a 135-bed acute care hospital serving Coffee County and surrounding communities. The hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services, including cardiology, orthopedics, labor and delivery, pulmonary care, rehabilitation, urology, wound care, emergency medicine, and surgical services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on perioperative leader who is committed to building stability, strengthening physician partnerships, developing teams, and driving growth for years to come.

Opportunity Highlights:

•        Lead a growing perioperative platform performing approximately 2,600 surgical cases and 3,700 total procedures annually, including Cardiac Cath                 cases.
•        Partner with a highly engaged and supportive team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and CRNAs.
•        Drive service line growth initiatives, including recruitment efforts in GI and Urology.
•        Lead quality, safety, patient experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications:

•        Registered Nurse (RN) required.
•        Master's degree required; MSN preferred.
•        Minimum of three years of progressive hospital leadership experience.
•        Leadership experience within Operating Room/Surgical Services required.
•        Strong knowledge of perioperative operations, including OR, PACU, Same-Day Surgery, and Sterile Processing.
•        Experience with Pathway to Excellence program. 
•        Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians, anesthesia teams, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
•        Demonstrated success leading operational improvement, quality initiatives, and departmental growth.
•        Strong financial, business, and resource management skills.
•        Exceptional communication, leadership, team building, and conflict resolution abilities.
•        Visible, engaged leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is energized by growth and transformation.
•        Academic Medical Center experience preferred.
