Description

HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity with our client, Baylor, Scott, and White Health – Hillcrest, a Magnet designated facility located in Waco, TX, for a Director, Cardiology services.  The Director of Cardiology is responsible for leadership in the Heart and Vascular Department, Non-Invasive, Invasive, and Cardiopulmonary Rehab departments. The Director, Cardiology Services is responsible for planning, selecting, and devising methods, policies, and procedures for Managers and Staff employees to accomplish designated goals. Negotiate interdepartmental resources, communicate, and plans with various cross-functional departments to ensure an effective level of service to Nursing Units. Our client is seeking a dynamic, transformational leader to build high-performing teams, driving the highest clinical outcomes and growth in volume.  The new Director will need to develop strong partnerships with surgeons and other interdisciplinary leaders throughout the organization.  The successful Director, Cardiology Services candidate, needs to uphold the strong culture of BSWH – Hillcrest and continue the strong momentum in the department for continued growth in volume, surgeons, and programmatic development.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Director, Cardiology Services will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer of BSWH – Hillcrest
  • Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing is required. Master’s Degree preferred ability to obtain in 3 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive nursing management experience is required.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a matrix environment built on collaboration

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, recommends, and oversees the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures consistency with established BSWH mission, goals, and objectives and ensures the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Director recommends, implements, and monitors capital and operating budgets. Ensures that actual expenditures are consistent with planned expenditures as established in annual budgets and adjusted for significant variances in census performance versus plan. Ensures that actual staffing and utilization are consistent with census performance.
  • Oversees or is responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and counseling.
  • Promotes and participates in continuous quality improvements initiatives to gain productivity and operational improvements. Develops, measures, and gathers benchmarking data to assist in evaluating effectiveness. Serves on committees and attends and conducts meetings and seminars to enhance and maintains an awareness of the department to current techniques and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with Physicians, community organizations, and other healthcare facilities to gather and exchange information and develop and implement solutions to problems while initiating new programs.
  • Director represents the department to the public, constituencies, healthcare organizations, professional associations, purchasers of healthcare services, governmental agencies, etc.
  • Maintains current knowledge of department functions through reading literature, attending workshops, seminars, and conferences, and participating in professional organizations. Ensures compliance with applicable standards as established by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and other regulatory agencies related to Cardiovascular Care.
  • Mentor other leaders in the department and monitor daily productivity, addressing variance from established standards, and adjust staffing to maintain established productivity
  • Establish annual unit-specific quality improvement goals, conduct monitoring, analysis, process changes, reporting, and re-evaluation of prepared goals to Nursing Quality Council and Clinic Quality
